1. Stock up on the basics
Keep a stock of tinned, bottled and dried foods to whip up simple meals easily if you can’t get out to the shops.
Don’t forget other essentials like bottled water, UHT milk, and loo roll.
2. Prepare for power outages
In severe storms, the power supply is often the first thing to go. So, make sure you have backup lighting and power.
LED torches and lanterns are cheap and give hundreds of hours of light.
It’s also worth investing in a rechargeable power bank or two.
3. Get Storm Ready
Make sure windows, doors and gates are shut and secured.
Put garden furniture and outdoor play equipment in a shed or garage, or tie it down.
